Carpet stains and spillages

If you have a small spillage to clean up we can do this for you for £50 for urgent spillage or spot removal. For example, tea, coffee, wine, urine or vomit, or even baby potty-training mishaps. If you’re in urgent need of removing nail varnish, paint spillage, urine spillages, urine stains, or dog vomit, please give us a call and we’ll tend to it within 24 hours. Most of our customers have been lucky enough to get an appointment within 4 hours. Please do note that if these spillages are left unattended for days, it can permanently damage the carpet. When any spillage lands on a wool carpet, the probability of the stain entering the wool cuticles increases according to the heat of the liquid, the force at which it lands on the carpet (the height of the drop or any rubbing that’s attempted to remove the spillage), the time that the spillage is allowed to dwell in the carpet; as well as the pH properties of the solution. Wool naturally prefers to be in a slightly acidic state, yet if the pH is very low the wool cuticles open up and accept the dye which can be transferred from the spilled solution. If the pH is too high, such as with some carpet cleaning solutions that are offered in retail stores, wool may turn yellow due to the cuticle proteins being denatured by the high OH concentration. This yellowing change is irreversible.

How to remove carpet stains

We only use WoolSafe approved products to rinse the spot out.
If this process hasn’t removed the spot completely we then use solvent-based solutions (enzymes that break down proteins, or solvents that can remove oils).
As a final resort we may, with approval from the customer, use colour-changing solutions. This is only in extreme cases because removing the stain from the wool fibres might also remove the wool’s dye and the spot could end up being lighter than the rest of the carpet. Keeping in mind that acidic stains such as urine and vomit may have already lightened the carpet fibres prior to any removal attempts.

We have a 100% satisfaction policy. If your carpets aren’t as clean as you were hoping for, we’ll come back and give it another clean for free. If you’re still not happy we’ll give you a full refund. We are the only carpet cleaners in Ascot who are professionally trained by the National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA) and our NCCA membership number is 3413. You will not find a better service at this price. Hot Water Extraction

Hot Water Extraction, or Steam Cleaning, uses very little water because most of the cleaning work is already completed by the agitation brushes. The high pressure 800 psi jet that forces water through the top layers of the carpet fibers manages to extract more dirt than most other carpet cleaning machines. This enables Cleaning Agents to leave the carpet much drier and ready to walk on within hours.

Types of carpets

The type of cleaning method depends on the carpet fibre, its construction and the dye content. Almost all carpets can be dry cleaned, however the hot water extraction (HWE) method rinses the dirt from the carpet, leaving it more hygienic. A dry cleaning is usually performed in between HWE as a temporary affordable solution that targets high footfall zones. Or on fibres that shrink or discolour when wet. Such fibres are usually made from natural cellulose resources. Examples are cotton, linen, sisal and viscose. In some cases wet cleaning can be used with special low pH solutions, it should only be done by professional carpet cleaners who know how to do it correctly, ensuring the warranty on your carpet remains valid. Carpet Cleaning Prices

The prices that we quote includes all of these steps of the cleaning process: vacuum cleaning; pre-spray; a gentle, yet very effective brush agitation; steam cleaning rinse. Professional carpet and upholstery cleaning companies mention a variety in the number of steps in their process but many of them only use hot water extraction to keep their carpet cleaning prices low. Whichever company you choose to clean your furnishings, be sure to obtain a quoted price that includes at least these basic steps.

The only optional extras that Cleaning Agents charge for are a fluorocarbon protector, often referred to as the branded name “Scotchgard”, for pet-mess treatments, and for insect pest treatment.

  • Fluorocarbon protector can be applied to clean carpets, upholstery and leather. It forms an invisible barrier to protect against spillages such as wine, juices, pet mess and other cold liquids. It gives our customers a chance to grab a cloth or paper towel to remove the liquid before it soaks into the furniture. Applying the protector is a very quick procedure, however carpets will take a little longer to dry.
  • Pet-mess cleaning will need specialist pre-treatment sprays and deodourisers that can denature the biological proteins which then make it easier to extract from the carpet.
  • Flea treatment Our technicians are qualified to treat carpet and upholstery with pesticides that will relieve our customers from textile pests such as fleas, carpet beetles, moths, cockroaches, ants, bedbugs, silverfish, woodlice, earwigs, millipedes, centipedes, houseflies, cluster-flies, mosquitoes and wasps. The complete treatment is undertaken on two days, at least one week apart. When dry, the pesticide is harmless.
